Harnett Central fans can be glad that this is its last as one of the smallest 4A schools in the state before dropping to 3A for the next four years. After coming within a failed two-point conversion of winning the 2009 4A championship, the Trojans have struggled.
Last year’s team was 1-10 and averaged 14 points per game, but this year coach Dave Thomas’ team will test a theory about success coming from within the trenches. The Trojans have depth, but not all in the same place.
What’s the bigget strength? Area of concern?
There aren’t many linemen to go around, but the Trojans bring back a lot in the skill positions, including the whole secondary and wide receiving corps.
Who are some players to know?
Mia’son Adams returns after winning the quarterback job in the middle of last year and had one 100-yard rushing game. Qyrell Street and Eddie White are his top targets while Zach Dixon and Mason Adams
What’s the biggest key this year?
“We just got to do a better job of controlling the game and slowing it down a little bit,” Thomas said. We’ve got to play mistake-free. We’ve shot ourselves in the foot a lot in the past with turnovers, and that’s never a good thing.”
