Friday’s football heroes

Game of the week: Orange 38, Chapel Hill 37. The Orange defense allowed 34 points in the first half, but yielded only a field goal in the second half as the Panthers erased a 20-point lead.

Another game of the week: Holly Springs 42, Middle Creek 35. Holly Springs scored in the last minute to tie the game and won it in three overtimes. Nehemiah Harris ran for 146 yards in the win.

Yet another game of the week: Southern Durham 33, Northwood 25. The lead kept switching back and forth all night. Southern quarterback Kendall Hinton passed for 203 yards, rushed for 116 yards and made big play after big play.

Player of the week: Bryce Love of Wake Forest rushed for 192 yards on eight carries. He had touchdown runs of 6, 68 and 92 yards in 33-7 win over Heritage.

Catamounts shut out Fuquay-Varina 9-0. Panther Creek has allowed one touchdown in the past three games, three touchdowns in the past six games.

Scoring Machine: Nyheim Hines of Garner rushed for five touchdowns and 211 yards and caught a touchdown pass in a 60-27 win over Harnett Central. Hines has rushed for 27 touchdowns this season.


Johnny Frasier, Princeton: Rushed for 162 yards and three scores and caught a touchdown pass in a 62-8 win over Spring Creek.

Clay Vick, Leesville Road: Passed for 212 yards in a 28-13 win over Enloe. Mike Dehaney rushed for 202 yards.

Logan Washle, Cardinal Gibbons: Passed for 190 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-12 victory over Northern Vance.

Brooks Cunningham, Wake Forest: Caught eight passes for 172 yards from quarterback Mack Moore (9-of-12 passes for 189 yards) in a 33-7 win over Heritage.

Blake Joyner, Clayton: Caught six passes for 118 yards in a 40-26 win over Rolesville. Quarterback Eric Hoy completed 10-of-14 passes for 144 yards.

DeParis Patterson, South Johnston: Passed for 165 yards in a 26-7 win over Corinth Holders.

Ti Pinnix, Northwood: Passed for 176 yards in a 33-25 loss to Southern Durham.

Damarus Williams, Fuquay-Varina: Ran for 156 yards in a 9-0 loss to Panther Creek.

Damontay Rhem, East Wake: Rambled for 176 yards and caught five passes for 100 yards in a 28-14 win over West Johnston.

Matt Mitchum, Panther Creek: Had a hand in all three turnovers: forcing a fumble, recovering a fumble and picking off a pass.

Isaiah Totten, Apex: Ran for 155 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 40-10 win over Cary.

Nehemiah Harris, Holly Springs: Scored four touchdowns and gained 146 yards in a 42-35 triple overtime win over Middle Creek.

Greyson Magee, Carrboro: Ran for 177 yards in a 19-0 loss to Burlington Cummings.

Rod White, Rocky Mount Academy: Rushed for 234 yards in a 52-42 eight-man win over Southampton. Jacob Hunter added 203 yards. Kyle Holland was credited with 15 tackles.
