Brendan Farrell

Apex High, Sr., lacrosse

GPA: 4.4

College: East Carolina University

Favorite course: AP microeconomics

World’s biggest problem: Child hunger

Most inspiring teacher: John Rothenberg, AP Microeconomics teacher. Opened my eyes to mature topics and made me think critically.

Impactful book: “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck

It is hard to believe that we used to: think smoking wasn’t bad for you.

Who epitomizes what a good American should be: A patriotic, hard worker who puts others before himself. Has respect and walks softly but carries a big stick.

Favorite charity: Habitat for Humanity

Is there life on another planet? No

Best movie: “American Sniper”

Whose life inspires you: Anyone who doesn’t quit when life gets tough. I love Jake Owen’s life story. He was on track to become a pro golfer and tore his ACL. When he was laid up on the couch he taught himself to play guitar and now makes millions as a country singer.

Ideal guest list: George Strait, George W. Bush, Luke Bryan

I wish I had been there: when Jordan Spieth won the Masters this year.
