Charlotte Hornets Observations

• The Charlotte Hornets have had some rough patches defensively this preseason. Coach Steve Clifford said before Monday’s exhibition that two fixes would solve that: Stop fouling “needlessly” and get back in transition.

Clifford added that both those improvements are quite reasonable, since they require effort more than skill.

• Add power forward Marvin Williams to the injured list with a right elbow contusion. Gerald Henderson (hamstring strain) continues to be out and Clifford decided to rest center Al Jefferson against the Hawks.

• Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston said he’s considering changing agent representation. One possibility: Former UNC Greensboro player Rodney Blackstock.

Hairston originally retained Juan Morrow who, it turned out, was not certified as an agent by the players union.

• There was no overhead scoreboard at Philips Arena for Monday’s exhibition. The Hawks are replacing their old scoreboard with a 3-D system.
