Matchup to Watch

Kemba Walker vs. Ty Lawson: Two of the quickest players with the ball in the NBA, these two point guards share exceptional change of direction.

Observations

• The Western Conference has really beaten up on the Hornets this season. Saturday’s victory over the Utah Jazz was just the second win in 13 games against the West.

• These aren’t the high-scoring Nuggets of past seasons. They beat the Pacers at home Saturday 76-73, winning a game in which they shot just 36 percent from the field.

Tap-ins

• The Hornets will again be without Lance Stephenson, who is out with a pelvic sprain.

• The Hornets should be the fresher team; they were off Sunday while the Nuggets flew cross-country to Charlotte.

Did you know?

Ex-Tar Heel Lawson is one of just two NBA players this season to average a double-double in points and assists (15.2 points/10.7 assists). The other is Washington’s John Wall.
