• Yes, the Denver Nuggets flew across the country Sunday while the Charlotte Hornets had the day off. But the Nuggets played the first half Monday with such apparent disinterest it was borderline unprofessional.
• Before the game Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Saturday’s victory over the Utah Jazz might have been small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s best game in the NBA. I’d agree in this regard: His defense on Gordon Hayward was constant and fierce. If Hayward had an open look at the basket with MKG guarding him, I don’t recall it.

• Tuesday’s game at the Milwaukee Bucks will be the Hornets’ fourth game in five nights. The Hornets don’t look as worn down as in past runs like this, probably because they’ve been winning games decisively of late.
• Center Al Jefferson, who suffered a groin strain Saturday, kept loose on the stationary bike when he wasn’t in the game.
