Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte Hornets - Cleveland Cavaliers Observations 01.23.14

•  Hornets coach Steve Clifford went into Friday’s game thinking he had three options for guarding LeBron James: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Lance Stephenson and Marvin Williams. Early foul trouble for Cody Zeller meant Williams had to guard Kevin Love for long stretches of the first half.

•  Clifford said before the game that he didn’t see cause yet to move Al Jefferson back into the starting lineup ahead of Bismack Biyombo. That could change after Saturday’s home game against the Knicks, when the Hornets would have four days off to evaluate.

•  This was the last of three games against the Cavaliers this regular season, which can only be a good thing for the Hornets.

•  The Cavaliers’ 35-point lead was its biggest halftime margin in franchise history. It topped a 34-point lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder in November 2008.
