Matchup to Watch

Stephen Curry vs. Kemba Walker: Former Davidson star Curry is playing even better than he did as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player last season.

Observations

▪  The Warriors are on an NBA-record 19-game season-opening winning streak. It is also the third-longest overall winning streak in league history. They lead the NBA in points per game, field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and assists per game.

▪  Cody Zeller will start at center for the Hornets in place of the injured Al Jefferson. The Hornets need to find alternative ways to create post offense with Jefferson out 2-3 weeks with a calf strain. Zeller and wing players Nic Batum and Jeremy Lamb are all possibilities.

Tap-ins

▪  The Hornets will honor Dell Curry at halftime on the one night this season son Stephen plays in Charlotte. Dell is the Hornets’ career scoring leader with 9.839 points.

▪  Warriors forward and former North Carolina star Harrison Barnes has been out with a sprained left ankle..

Did you know?

As of Monday’s games, Curry has made more 3-pointers this season (94) than either the Minnesota Timberwolves (92) or the Brooklyn Nets (81).
