Just because you’re smart doesn’t mean you know football.

On Thursday night’s episode of the quiz show “Jeopardy,” the contestants were given a “Talkin’ Football” category in the first round of the show.

The three contestants gave nothing but blank stares through all five clues, which ranged from plays to teams to nicknames.

After the contestants failed to answer the $100 clue, host Alex Trebek said facetiously, “I can tell you guys are big football fans.”

After no one buzzed in after the second question, Trebek deadpanned, “Do you think we should go to commercial?”

Finally after a video clue about the Minnesota Vikings, Trebek said, “If you guys ring in and get this one, I will die! Who are the purple people eaters.”
