Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet
Nearshore ocean water temperatures have recently creeped into the mid-40 degrees and Bogue Sound into the mid-30s. The cold seemed to drive at least some of the missing bigger trout up into the local creeks for the first time this winter. Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

It’s still a bit slow for fishing, but crappie and white perch are biting in the river. It’s slow for the bass and crappie in the lake, but they are biting. Crappies are biting minows.
