Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

There has been a recent increase in the catch of bluefin tuna, coming in between 63 and 68 inches and up to 182 pounds. There have also been some yellowfin tuna reeled in. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Puppy drum are being caught on the point, while some drum are being seen around Ocracoke as well. There are also some blowtoads, small sharks, and bluefin tuna being reeled in. Ocracoke/Portsmouth

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Fishermen are seeing consistent bite from redfish in the marshes. Some black drum and a few specks are being caught in the creeks, but the catch has been hit or miss lately. Topsail Island

The recent catch included some red drum, trout, and pufferfish, with some black drum in the surf. No offshore report available. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, www.eastcoastsports.com.

Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Pufferfish are being caught in the surf, while sea bass are caught frequently between 25 and 40 miles offshore. Fishermen are reeling in some wahoos, and blackfin tuna are being caught often in the Gulf Stream. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763, www.texstackle.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

Freshwater

Falls Lake

Crappies are being caught on minnows and are moving up to 3-8 feet deep waters. Bass of up to 10 feet are caught on crank bait, spitter bait, chatter bait, jig bait, and rattle traps. White bass have been reeled in on minnows and blade bait, while catfish are caught on cutbait. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 251.69, full pool 264.8. Jordan Lake

Kerr Lake

Crappies are being caught in the backs of creeks. Striped bass are caught in the creeks and on the points. No reports of largemouth bass yet, but they are expected to be caught soon.
