Atlanta’s new Nobu Hotel brings Japanese luxury to Phipps Plaza
After five years of anticipation, Atlanta’s newest luxury hotel is open. Nobu Hotel adds a new level of class to Atlanta’s Phipps Plaza. The Beck Group designed the new hotel, which was formerly a Belk department store.
According to Atlanta Urbanize, the new hotel marks the Nobu brand’s first location in the metropolitan city. The opulent hotel “boasts 152 rooms, a rooftop pool, spa, and conference space, plus the 10,000-square-foot Nobu Atlanta Restaurant, which is dishing Japanese cuisine widely considered iconic.”
Inside the hotel, it is obvious no expense was spared, or detail missed. The Rockwell Group oversaw the interior design of the hotel. They paid homage to the Southern city by incorporating everything that defines Atlanta. Beautiful oversized magnolias, dogwoods, Southern pines, and oaks with dark wood accents throughout, pocket gardens, and ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging.
The Southern splendor continues to the layout of the rooms. Forbes describes the suites as “a sense of harmony with nature.”
The standard rooms are around 394-square-foot. The hotel offers “Premium” options and larger “Sake Suites.” The largest room, the “Nobu Villa,” is on the ninth floor with 2,200 square feet and a hand-painted grand piano.
The outlet states all rooms have high-quality leather furnishings, natural-toned textiles, neutral wall coverings and wood accents. Nobu’s signature “live edge wood” is used for headboards and bed frames. Rust upholstery with indigo accents adds pops of color amongst the rich earth tones. Remote-controlled windows offer light into the swanky sleeping quarters. The Japanese influence is also felt in the rooms with hand-hand painted wall coverings reminiscent of Japanese shoji screens.
If you find yourself needing to run a quick (less than three miles) errand, the hotel provides a Porsche for your use.
The brand’s accompanying restaurant has been open since 2022 and stands out in the city’s culinary scene. The Japanese-inspired menu is eclectic but extraordinary. Choices include “slivers of pristine sashimi and nigiri, savory umami-laced sauces, or for the more extravagant diners, the wagyu from Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture arrives tableside on a searing hot stone that cooks the beef at the table.”
Limited rooms are available for the remainder of the month, starting at $395.00. Prices are expected to rise. For more information, visit Nobu Hotel Atlanta.
