In a recent announcement, United Airlines revealed a new mobile app feature that offers travelers a range of personalized services. These include re-booking options, bag tracking information, and meal and hotel vouchers in the event of a flight delay or cancellation.

Travel Pulse highlights that officials at United began beta testing the new feature at the end of 2022 after discovering that nearly half of United customers already turn to the app or the airline’s website to self-serve during disruptions.

According to test results, both customers and airport staff liked having alternate travel options automatically presented to them in the app, which reduced the number of people physically standing in line.

Linda Jojo, the Chief Customer Officer of United notes that the company aims to ensure that their customers reach their destination on time. However, she acknowledges that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and in such cases, a tool like the one they have can be of great help.

“Our new mobile app feature offers more transparency, saves time and reduces stress for our customers, and it shortens lines at customer service desks so our employees can better assist passengers with complex issues or questions,” Jojo added. “Plus, it’s another example of United’s continued investment in new technology and tools.”

Travelers can receive notifications, check re-booking status, track bags, and view eligible vouchers through the United mobile app, which displays delay and cancellation options on the home screen when a flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes or canceled.

If a passenger does not have the airline’s app, they can still use the self-service tool at United.com on their computer or mobile device and still choose to speak to a customer service representative in person.
