It’s an ’80s flashback weekend on the big screen

Cameron Crowe’s 1989 teen rom com “Say Anything” screens as part of the N.C. Museum of Art’s Summer Outdoor Movie series Friday at the open-air Museum Theater. The coming-of-age classic, which was rescheduled from July 8 because of weather, stars John Cusack and Ione Skye as a couple whose relationship hits a few snags largely because of her overbearing father (John Mahoney). The next evening, another rescheduled event, Vincente Minnelli’s 1951 musical drama “An American in Paris,” starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, is showing at the same venue. • Friday evening, The Cary theater is showing Harold Ramis’ 1983 comedy classic “National Lampoon’s Vacation” at 7, followed by Aisling Walsh’s 2016 drama “Maudie” at 9:15 (there will be encores of “Maudie” on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.). On Saturday, Ivan Reitman’s “Meatballs” (1979) screens at 2 p.m. Later in the day, it’s Richard Kelly’s “Donnie Darko” (2001) at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Catherine Bainbridge and Alfonso Maiorana’s 2017 documentary “Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World” screens at 2 and 7 p.m., followed by Rachel Michell’s “My Cousin Rachel” (2017) at 9:15.
