Ryan Adams will be your weatherman

Raleigh expatriate Ryan Adams is playing Thursday night at Red Rocks, the outdoor amphitheater just west of Denver. And he's definitely making the most of his visit, writing and recording at least three Colorado-themed songs for the occasion.

Wednesday night found Adams getting in touch with his inner weatherman by putting in an appearance at the Denver7 News station to do the weather, sort of. Wearing a yellow Batman T-shirt overlaid with red-and-black flannel, he dutifully read the forecast on the screen while adding the occasional editorial quip:

"Southeast winds, 10 to 15 miles per hour. For anybody, that's super-into the wind, there you go."

Preceding his visit to the TV station, Adams recorded a song to go with it, "Denver7 (Piece of Heaven)," which the station's animators turned into a video.

Previously, Adams put out customized songs he recorded for Denver/Fort Collins radio station "105.5: The Colorado Sound"; and for Westword, the Denver-based weekly paper.
