'Coming to America' kicks off a series of '80s and '90s classics
On June 29, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Raleigh is celebrating the 30th anniversary of John Landis’ 1988 comedy classic “Coming to America,” starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, with a screening at 7:30 p.m. (there will be an encore on July 4, at 7:15 p.m.). $5.
On June 30, the 4K Restoration of James Cameron’s 1991 sci-fi action classic “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, screens at 7 p.m. $5.
On July 2, it’s Jamie Babbit’s 1999 comedy “But I'm a Cheerleader,” starring Natasha Lyonne, Clea DuVall and Michelle Williams, as part of Alamo Raleigh’s salute to Summer Camp at 7:15 p.m. $5.
On July 3, William Lustig’s “Uncle Sam” (1996) screens as part of the Terror Tuesday series at 7:15 p.m. $5.
On July 4, Steven Spielberg’s 1975 thriller classic “Jaws,” starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw. Shows at 11 a.m., 2:25 p.m., 6 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. $5. Details: drafthouse.com/raleigh.
