What to Watch on Sunday: 'Wicked Tuna' returns to NC's Outer Banks

Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks (9 p.m., National Geographic) — In the Season 5 premiere, it’s opening day of the bluefin season in the Outer Banks, the most treacherous waters of the North Atlantic, and a reduced quota puts pressure on captains. New England captains Marciano, McLaughlin and Ott head south to the North Carolina shores.

American Jail (8 p.m., CNN) — In a special CNN Films presentation, Roger Ross explores the mass incarceration crisis in the U.S. and what fuels the prison system. He looks at challenges as well as potential solutions.

Instinct (9 p.m., CBS) — In the Season 1 finale, Dylan and Lizzie investigate the murder of Joan’s protege, uncovering long-buried secrets. Also, Dylan and Andy apply to adopt a child. This Alan Cumming-led show is renewed for another season.

Scene of the Crime (10 p.m., Investigation Discovery)In Kinston, Tony Harris investigates the 1992 murder of Billy White Sr., a pillar of his community, and uncovers a bloody trail of betrayal that spans decades and haunts White's family to this day.
