Oscar nominees 'Darkest Hour,' 'The Post,' part of museum's outdoor film series

On July 6, the N.C. Museum of Art’s Summer Outdoor Movie series continues with the Oscar-winning 2017 historical drama “Darkest Hour,” starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill at the height of World War II in 1940. Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, and Stephen Dillane also star.

On July 7, it’s Steven Spielberg’s 2017 political thriller “The Post” starring Tom Hanks as Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee and Meryl Streep as the Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham, who attempted to publish the Pentagon Papers, which would expose the top-secret military operations in Vietnam in 1971. The film includes a strong supporting cast of Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, David Cross and Matthew Rhys.
