Sugar Rush (Netflix) -- This new fast-paced baking competition series from Netflix challenges bakers to create sweet treats that look beautiful and taste amazing, but they must perform under a tight time limit. Pastry chefs Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo are the judges, and there will be guest judges on each episode as well.

Great British Baking Show (9 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) -- Of course, the granddaddy of baking shows is on tonight, too. Tonight the bakers make pies with the showstopper challenge being American pies.

Also on tonight . . .

Whistleblower (8 p.m., CBS) -- This new series hosted by former judge and police officer Alex Ferrer looks at the real life David vs. Goliath stories of heroic people who put everything on the line to expose illegal and often dangerous wrongdoing when major corporations rip off U.S. taxpayers. Tonight’s premiere episode is about the pediatric dental chain Kool Smiles and the drug company Bristol-Myers Squibb.
