CBS 17 meteorologist Kristin Ketchell is leaving WNCN for a position with a news outlet in the Midwest.

Ketchell made the announcement on her Facebook page on Sunday. Her last day at the Raleigh station will be Oct. 8.

“After a little more than 3 1/2 years at WNCN CBS 17 News, I will be leaving in October,” Ketchell wrote on Facebook. “I recently accepted a new position in the Midwest where my husband and I will be closer to family. My last day on TV in Raleigh will be one week from tomorrow on Monday, October 8th. I have loved every second of my time here and North Carolina will forever have a place in my heart. From snow, to heat to Matthew & Florence, I’ve covered my fair share of significant weather events that impacted the state. Thank you for trusting me with your forecast, spending your mornings with me and allowing me to tell your stories.”

Ketchell has not publicly said where her new job will but, but TV Spy reports that she will work for Spectrum News in Milwaukee.

Ketchell was named the TV Weathercaster of the Year for North and South Carolina at the Associated Press/Radio Television Digital News Association awards last year. Ketchell came to WNCN from WOWK in Charleston, West Virginia.
