What to Watch on Tuesday: New PBS series explores ‘Native America’

Native America (9 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) - This new three-part series explores the world created by America’s First Peoples 15,000 years ago. Combining modern science with Native knowledge, the series shines a spotlight on these ancient cultures and the communities that still thrive today. It looks at Amazonian cave paintings, Mexican burial chambers, New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon and waves off California’s coast.

The Connors (8 p.m., ABC) - Darlene is surprised when David introduces his girlfriend at a parent-teacher conference.

This Is Us (9 p.m., NBC) - Kevin meets someone from his father’s past in Vietnam.

The First 48: Killer Break (10 p.m., A&E) - In Charlotte, a store clerk and father of three young children is shot in a robbery by a masked man. Police interview witnesses and find that no one knows the shooter.

Ink Master (10 p.m., Paramount) - Triangle tattoo artist Teej Poole is still in the running in this competition. Tonight they take on mermaid tattoos.

The Rookie (10 p.m., ABC) - Talia forces Nolan to confront his personal moral instincts after he encounters a kidnapping victim.
