What to Watch on Sunday: New ID series ‘The Lake Eerie Murders’ focuses on 1989 cold case

Investigation Discovery

The Lake Eerie Murders: Who Killed Amy Mihaljevic? (9 p.m., Investigation Discovery) - This new ID true crime series looks into the murder of 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic, who in October 1989 was lured to a suburban Ohio shopping mall by an unknown man and never seen alive again. There was a nationwide manhunt involving thousands of leads and hundreds of suspects, but the mystery of Amy’s killer has remained for the past 30 years. Filmmakers interview Amy’s surviving family members and women who had similar experiences as young girls. The series also explores details of other child murders in the area with potential similarities, in the hopes that details will bring new leads. Tonight we get three 1-hour episodes about Amy’s murder and then starting Jan. 6, four more standalone episodes about similar and possibly related murders in that area.

Also on tonight . . .

Escape at Dannemora (10 p.m., Showtime) - In the finale, Matt and Sweat run for their lives as the tension between them becomes extreme. Tilly tries to evade authorities, but as the law closes in, all three are confronted with hard truths about who they really are.
