What to Watch on Tuesday: ‘Game of Thrones’ author opens new season of ‘Finding Your Roots’

Finding Your Roots (8 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) - Season 5 of this genealogy series starts with actor Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine Nine”) and author George Martin (“Game of Thrones”) learning new information about their families through DNA analysis. Henry Louis Gates Jr. guides their journeys.

Ellen’s Game of Games (8 p.m., NBC) - Season 2 of this Ellen Degeneres game show starts with two new episodes.

We’ll Meet Again (9 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) - In the Season 2 finale, Ann Curry helps one of the first female commercial pilots thank her mentor, and helps an advocate search for the woman who inspired her to join the equal rights movement.

New Amsterdam (10 p.m., NBC) - Max’s life hangs in the balance, and doctors and staff rally to help him and support Georgia.

USS Indianapolis: The Final Chapter (10 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) - The wreck of the USS Indianapolis, which sank during World War II with nearly 1200 men on board (costing the lives of 879), is discovered 18,000 feet below the Philippine Sea.
