1. Mamma Mia!
“My, my, how can I resist” this? You probs can’t — or shouldn’t — resist a night of legendary Swedish rock group ABBA’s top hits sung through NC Theatre’s staging of this famed tale of a mother and daughter, three possible dads (oops!), and an unforgettable trip down the aisle. 2. Drake Party: Real Fake Love

3. North Carolina Book Festival
Word nerds unite at this N.C. book fest, the state’s signature literary event. With myriad titles from writers and artists from here to abroad, there promises to be something for all audiences. Once hosted on a rotating basis by NC State, UNC and Duke, the fest now presents at bars and bookshops across Raleigh, from King’s and Crank Arm Brewery to Hunt Library and Quail Ridge Books, with readings, panels demos, lectures and more. 4. Big Frosty Beer Festival
Belly up to the bar at Raleigh Beer Garden to sip a diverse lineup of samples from local, regional and national breweries (from Crank Arm to HopFly to Sierra Nevada) while jamming to live music. 5. Kay Yow Cancer Fund Celebration Run/Walk
Lace up to stomp out cancer for this third annual Kay Yow 4K (with a “mini-K” .3-mile option) on NC State’s campus to celebrate survivors, their families and caregivers. 6. AfterHours: Science of Wine
Getting schooled just got even cooler — and tres chic. Channel your inner sommelier at Durham’s Museum of Life and Science for an elegant evening spent workshopping the science behind your fave varietals with Wine Authorities’ Craig Heffley. Local wine sellers, cheesemakers and chocolatiers (with samples! nom nom) will be on hand, plus researchers to dish the deets on how soil and sun affect the color and flavor of your fave vintages and varieties. 7. “Junie B. Jones, The musical”
It’s her first day of first grade, and Junie B. Jones is dealing with some big-girl drama. Lucille doesn’t want to be her BFF anymore; the blackboard is blurry (specs are sweet though, she’ll see — see what we did there?); plus plenty of other relatable hilarity told through this Raleigh Little Theatre comedy-musical adaptation of Barbara Park’s best-selling Junie B. A can’t-miss comic lineup bends the boards in the Bull City with this second installment of Durty Bull Brewing Company’s Thursday Night Comedy Showcase, featuring Rob Schneider (not the comic from “Saturday Night Live”), Angel Perez, Reid Clark, Dink Kearney and Lauren Ansley.
