Foo Fighters cancel tour dates, including Charlotte and Raleigh, after drummer’s death

The Foo Fighters won’t be making their way to North Carolina, or any other city, during their upcoming North American tour, following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins last week.

Hawkins, 50, died Friday at the Casa Medina hotel in Bogotá, Colombia, after complaining of chest pains to emergency services, according to The Associated Press. The band was scheduled to play at a festival in Bogotá later that night.

“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” the band wrote on their website Tuesday.

Foo Fighters were scheduled to play sold-out shows at Coast Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh on May 20 and PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte on May 24.

Ticket holders can either receive a full refund or a credit option, which would be a promotional code for future tickets, according to Live Nation’s website.

“We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned,” the band said. “Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”
