Singer Noah Kahan brings ‘Stick Season Tour’ to Raleigh
A sold-out crowd nearly six times the size of Noah Kahan’s hometown came to see the folk musician take the stage at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh Wednesday night.
Kahan, who grew up in Strafford, Vermont — a town of 1,100 residents — exploded on the folk music scene last year, when his album “Stick Season” peaked at No. 14 on Billboard’s top 200. The headline track also climbed to No. 1 on the adult album alternative (AAA) Radio Chart.
“I wanted to write about what it was like to grow up in a small town, what it means to fall in love and lose people in a small town, and write from the perspective of someone who stayed behind,” Kahan explained in an interview with Billboard last year.
Kahan’s struggle with anxiety and depression is a prominent theme in his lyrics. The artist regularly discusses his journey with mental health on TikTok, where he’s surpassed 1 million followers.
Fellow singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun joined Kahan onstage Wednesday night. The two have released a pair of songs together.
