Here’s a sneak peek of the twinkly new displays at the NC Chinese Lantern Festival
The N.C. Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheatre has become a holiday tradition in the Triangle, with the colorful lantern displays, mesmerizing performances and festive music.
The festival, back for an eighth year, starts Friday and runs for two months until Jan. 14.
Each Chinese lantern is hand-crafted on silk fabric stretched over steel frames and then lit with hundreds of LED lights. That includes a 200-foot, 18,000-pound dragon on the amphitheatre’s lake.
Here is a preview of what visitors can expect at this year’s event.
