Can Weird Al be even weirder? See photos from his Raleigh concert where he tries
If it’s possible for “Weird Al” Yankovic to be bigger and weirder, he’s going to try.
That’s the name of his most recent tour, which stopped at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater Thursday night.
The king of parodies, backed by an eight-piece ensemble, performed his greatest hits at the soldout show before heading to Wilmington on Friday and Charlotte on Saturday.
The setlist included fan favorites like “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise,” “White & Nerdy” and a medley that featured “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon,” two of his earliest hits.
Puddles Pity Party, the 6’8” clown with the sad face, was the opening act at Red Hat.
Weid Al’s concert came just days after he showed his support for Stephen Colbert on Monday’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” following the cancellation of the show. Yankovic and Lin-Manuel Miranda performed a Coldplay song with Weird Al on the accordion.
