New Prince Single Released on 10th Anniversary of Artist's Death
Prince's estate released a new single to mark the 10th anniversary of the iconic singer's death.
"Recorded in 1991 at Paisley Park and newly mixed by Chris James, this track finds Prince in full command, writing, producing, and performing every note," the late artist's official Instagram account explained.
The song, titled "With This Tear," was previously recorded and released by Celine Dion in 1997.
"'With This Tear' was a gift from Prince that I will always treasure," Dion shared via Instagram after news of its release. "I have carried this song with me for so many years. To now hear his version, shared for the very first time, feels truly special."
Prince - born Prince Rogers Nelson - was found unresponsive and pronounced dead on April 21, 2016, at his home at Paisley Park. It was later ruled that he had died of an accidental overdose.
The "Purple Rain" artist was an icon of the 1980s. His remained at the top of the charts in the following decades, with hits such as "When Doves Cry," "Little Red Corvette," "Nothing Compares 2 U," and "Raspberry Beret."
He was nominated for 32 Grammy Awards throughout his career and took home 7 statuettes. He was later honored with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025 and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign o' The Times.
He was just 57 at the time of his death.
