‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' BTS Footage Dropped - and Fans Are Already Worried

Summer is almost here, but it's unlike any of the past four years.

We don't have "The Summer I Turned Pretty" to look forward to, and spending vacations at Cousins. At least, not immediately. The highly anticipated movie of the uber-popular Amazon Prime Video show has finally started filming, but fans are already getting worked up about a certain development from the set.

After an agonizing wait of more than seven months - the movie was announced on the same day the series finale aired on Sept. 17 - they have started filming in Southport, NC, on Monday.

Soon, behind-the-scenes footage from the set started appearing, and internet sleuths are doing what they do best to pore over every detail. But a detailed study of the footage brought forward a concerning issue.

For a refresher, "The Summer I Turned Pretty” wrapped up with Isabel ‘Belly' Conklin (Lola Tung) walking into the golden sunset with the love of her life, Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), after her wedding with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), Conrad’s brother, was called off.

However, the conclusion left us wanting more, and creator Jenny Han answered the prayer with the movie announcement, while explaining, "another big milestone (is) left in Belly's journey," which "only a movie could give it its proper due."

And here we are, waiting to get swooped into Belly's journey in the dreamy Cousins Beach.

While Bonrad fans finally got the much-coveted happy ending, Team Jellyfish wanted a happy ending for Jeremiah, too. It seemed like there was one when Jeremiah was seen being amorous with Denise (Isabella Briggs) after having a deep conversation with her. But the recently released BTS footage shows a different picture altogether.

In the video that went viral on Friday, the recurring characters including Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, Steven (Sean Kaufman), and Taylor (Rain Spencer) were seen enjoying a boat ride together; Denise was noticeably absent.

Instead, Jeremiah was seen with a new woman, which is enough to raise speculation about a new love interest. Fans started theorizing what it could possibly mean.

In the comment section of the video, a fan asked: "Who is that girl with jere? Aren’t he supposed to be with denise?"

"so denise didn't last?" said another.

Someone else noted: "I feel this is too good to be true.😂 Do you think it's a fake scene to fool us?"

Another fan said: "I have trust issues in believing these after they filmed all those fake scenes last season."

Nobody except those associated with the project knows what is actually going on. But fans are right to be worried about the too-happy-looking Summer gang. After all, the crew did film fake Paris scenes with Jeremiah to distract the fans.
