'70s Rock Band Announces 2026 Tour Dates 38 Years After No. 1 Hit Song
Nearly 50 years after their debut, The Psychedelic Furs are proving they still have plenty left to say.
The influential new wave band just announced a new run of 2026 tour dates via Instagram, revealing a co-headlining summer trek with Living Colour. The tour kicks off July 31 in Park City, Utah, before making stops in fifteen states across the country, wrapping Sept. 6 in Miami Beach, Florida.
"I think I'm more comfortable onstage now, that's a big part of it," the band's frontman, Richard Butler, told Magnet Magazine. "I'm able to enjoy it more instead being so stressed and introverted about the whole business. I feel confident when I walk out onstage with this band."
For longtime fans, the announcement marks another major chapter for a band whose career has stretched across generations. Formed in 1977 in the U.K. by brothers Richard Butler and Tim Butler, The Psychedelic Furs emerged during the post-punk explosion, but quickly carved out a sound of their own, blending alternative rock, art rock and new wave influences.
While they first gained attention in the U.K., the band's popularity exploded in America in the early 1980s thanks to songs like "Love My Way" and "Pretty in Pink." Their biggest commercial breakthrough came later with "All That Money Wants," which became a No. 1 hit on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart in 1988.
Over the years, the group has maintained a devoted following, continuing to tour consistently while influencing countless alternative and indie artists. In recent years, they've shared stages with bands like James and Squeeze and returned to the studio with their 2020 album Made of Rain, their first new album in nearly three decades.
Butler said at the time that the creative spark never disappeared. "From time to time, we'd write a new song, rehearse it and play it," he explained, adding that downtime between tours eventually inspired the band to fully commit to recording again.
Now, nearly four decades after their biggest chart success, The Psychedelic Furs are once again heading back on the road, showing that their blend of atmospheric rock and emotional intensity still resonates today.
