"Sheriff Nanos responded to the scene the night of the incident, providing immediate local leadership and oversight," the PCSD message began. "A member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene working alongside our personnel. The FBI was promptly notified by both our department and the Guthrie family. While the FBI Director was not on scene, coordination with the Bureau began without delay."

The update continued, "Decisions regarding evidence processing were made on scene based on operational needs. The laboratory utilized by the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI Laboratory in Quantico have worked in close partnership from the onset and will continue to collaborate in the analysis of evidence."

To conclude its statement, the PCSD reassured the public, "We remain committed to a thorough, coordinated, and fact-based investigation and will continue working closely with our federal partners as the process moves forward."

Earlier on Tuesday, Patel called out the PCSD, claiming, "For four days, we were kept out of the investigation. And when we were finally let in... We went in and got the Ring doorbell."

The FBI director also claimed that his bureau communicated with Google to obtain the video and stills of the masked suspect on the 84-year-old's front porch. "We could have gotten that days before," Patel claimed. "We could have also maybe gotten more data had we been let in earlier."

Additionally, he said the FBI offered to analyze the DNA samples, but that the PCSD decided to send them to a lab in Florida.

"We would have analyzed it within days and maybe gotten better information or more information," Patel told Fox host Sean Hannity. "Our lab's just better than any other private lab out there. And we didn't get a chance to do that, so I understand everybody's frustrations."

Nancy is still missing after she was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson, Ariz., on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named.
