Should You Pull For SSR Bamboo Memory (Guts) And Seeking The Pearl (Speed) Support Cards In Umamusume Pretty Derby?

New SSR Cards of Bamboo Memory and Seeking the Pearl are debuting in Umamusume starting April 26 (UTC)! In this quick guide, let's take a peek at the cards' stats and skills, then analyze their career performance to see whether they are worth pulling for.

SSR Bamboo Memory (Guts) Stats And Skills

Featured Gold SkillEffect

Full of Vigor

When positioned toward the back on the final corner, increase velocity. (Mile)

  • [Full of Vigor] is a strong backline speed skill for Mile tracks where the spurt starts close to the end of the final corner. This is due to speed carry-over, where an Uma's speed bonus from a skill grants them a head start when the spurt begins. However, this is highly niche and relevant in only a few tracks, which lowers the card's long-term value.
Event SkillEffect

Position Pilfer

Slightly increase velocity mid-race. (Late Surger)

Pumped

When positioned toward the back on the final corner, slightly increase velocity. (Mile)

Standard Distance ○

Moderately increase performance over standard distances (multiples of 400m).

Hint SkillEffect

Target in Sight ○

Moderately increase performance when the favorite is using the same strategy.

Homestretch Haste

Slightly increase velocity in the last spurt.

Outer Swell

Slightly increase velocity when passing another runner on the outside on the final corner. (Late Surger)

Gap Closer

Slightly increase spurting ability when positioned toward the back late-race. (Sprint)

Mile Straightaways ○

Slightly increase velocity on a straight. (Mile)

Updrafters

Slightly increase passing ability when positioned toward the back late-race. (Mile)

SSR Seeking The Pearl (Speed) Stats And Skills

Featured Gold SkillEffect

Dauntless

When positioned in the midpack during the second half of the race, increase velocity and very slightly increase acceleration. (Late Surger)

  • [Dauntless] is arguably a worse version of Trackblazer's [Radiant Star]. Both skills trigger at a random point in the second half of the race, and always grant a relevant boost at every section of the track. However, [Dauntless] has more restrictions (mid-pack position, Late Surger only) and lacks built-in recovery.
Event SkillEffect

Updrafters

Slightly increase passing ability when positioned toward the back late-race. (Mile)

Light as a Feather

Slightly increase velocity when positioned toward the front upon approaching late-race. (Sprint)

Uma Stan

Slightly increase velocity when close to many runners.

Hint SkillEffect

Firm Conditions ○

Moderately increase performance on firm ground.

Pace Chaser Savvy ○

Moderately increase ability to get into a good position. (Pace Chaser)

Late Surger Savvy ○

Moderately increase ability to get into a good position. (Late Surger)

Watchful Eye

Slightly decrease fatigue, then very slightly decrease velocity of runners ahead when positioned toward the back upon approaching mid-race. (Mile)

Prepared to Pass

Slightly increase ability to break out of the pack on the final corner. (Pace Chaser)

Slick Surge

Slightly increase acceleration late-race. (Late Surger)

Sprinting Gear

Slightly increase acceleration on a straight. (Sprint)

Head-On

Slightly increase acceleration when positioned toward the front late-race. (Pace Chaser)

Sharp Gaze

Slightly startle other runners late-race. (Late Surger)

Should You Pull Analysis

SSR Bamboo Memory (Guts)

Strengths

  • Strong stats for Trackblazer
  • Decent unique perk scaling
  • Speed Bonus stat favors Guts decks

Weaknesses

  • Highly niche gold skill
  • Gold skill is not guaranteed

SSR Bamboo Memory is a decent card at max uncap (MLB) with a strong niche, which includes the upcoming Gemini Cup at the end of the month. Her unique perk is also excellent in Trackblazer, where you can get the maximum benefit by using Good-Luck Charms from the Token Shop. However, due to the abundance of strong Guts cards that are accessible to F2P trainers (SR Admire Vega, SSR Haru Urara, SSR Yukino Bijin), SSR Bamboo Memory is not cost-effective and can be easily skipped.

As mentioned earlier in this guide, [Full Of Vigor] is highly situational. Additionally, her stats aren't high enough to warrant spending until MLB, when compared to the free Guts cards we have access to.

SSR Seeking The Pearl (Speed)

Strengths

  • High Friendship Bonus and Specialty Priority
  • Grants access to [Uma Stan]

Weaknesses

  • Low Trackblazer viability due to 5% Race Bonus
  • Overall skills lack cohesion
  • [Dauntless] is SP-inefficient
  • Weak unique perk in Trackblazer

SSR Seeking The Pearl's kit suffers from being a ‘jack of all trades, master of none'. Her skills are scattered across several restrictions, including Sprint, Mile, Pace Chaser, and Late Surger. Even though she has an event for [Uma Stan], getting many relevant skills for your Uma gets tricky. Her unique perk also works poorly in Trackblazer, where energy is frequently low due to constant races.

Rating

SSR Bamboo Memory (Guts) - 3/5

SSR Seeking The Pearl (Speed) - 1.5/5

F2P Value - Low (Skippable)
