On the 'Difficulties' He Didn't Know About

"I think there were difficulties on the show - most of which I didn't know at the time. But at the same time, I've made lifelong friends through that show. It helped my career in a way that no other job has," Kim said.

In the years after the show's 2010 finale, several Lost writers and cast members came forward with claims of toxicity, sexism and racism on set, including in a 2023 Vanity Fairexposé where one former writer called the work environment "nakedly hostile." Co-showrunner Damon Lindelof has publicly acknowledged he "failed" to maintain a safe set.

Kim said he keeps in regular touch with Harold Perrineau, Henry Ian Cusick, Josh Holloway, and "the raft boys from season 1." "We bonded over that experience," he said.

He Hasn't Rewatched It Yet

Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai in Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, has not actually rewatched Lost since it ended. "I haven't done a rewatch, actually, and it's something I've been meaning to do. So I think it's in my near future," he explained.

On the divisive finale: "I cared most about the characters, and the fact that the characters were all together at the end of the series was the thing that mattered most to me."

What He's Up To Now

Kim hosts and executive produced K-Everything, a new four-part CNN docuseries covering K-beauty, K-pop, K-drama and K-food. All four episodes are streaming on HBO Max.
