'70s Rock Band, With No. 1 Hit Song, Announces New Single

Progressive rock band Yes, formed in London in 1968 and known for their chart success in the 1970s, has released a new single titled "Turnaround Situation" from their upcoming album Aurora, set for release on June 12.

The new track arrives as the second single from the record, following the title song "Aurora," which was released earlier. The album will be the band's 24th studio release and continues their long-running streak of new music spanning more than five decades.

The single release comes at a time when Yes remains active in both recording and touring, despite major lineup changes over the years and the passing of several key members from their classic era.

The new song "Turnaround Situation" centers on personal reflection, mistakes and the idea of choosing a better path after going the wrong way.

According to Blabbermouth, lead vocalist Jon Davison explained the meaning behind the track in a press statement, saying:

"I've taken the wrong road before. Most people have. There's always a temporary thrill in it, but eventually it catches up with you."

He also described the song as "part confession, part redemption," focusing on the moment a person decides to stop ignoring their conscience.

The upcoming album Aurora continues the band's long history of studio releases that began with their self-titled debut in 1969. Over the years, Yes has become one of the most recognized names in progressive rock, with landmark albums such as Fragile and Close to the Edge helping define the genre.

The current lineup includes guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, drummer Jay Schellen and vocalist Jon Davison.

The album was built through a modern process, with members contributing ideas from different locations before bringing them together into a full record. This approach reflects how the band has adapted to changes in recording methods over time.

Aurora Track List:

  • Aurora
  • Turnaround Situation
  • Love Lies Dreaming
  • Countermovement
  • Ariadne
  • All Hands on Deck
  • Outside the Box
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Jambustin' (Bonus Track)
  • Watching the River Roll (Bonus Track)

Since forming in 1968, Yes has gone through many lineup changes and musical shifts. The group has included more than 20 full-time members throughout its history, with classic-era musicians such as Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman and Bill Bruford shaping its early sound.

Despite these changes, the band continued to release albums across different eras, including major commercial breakthroughs in the 1970s and a chart-topping hit in the 1980s with "Owner of a Lonely Heart."

Today, Yes remains active and continues to record new material, keeping its identity rooted in progressive rock while exploring updated production styles.
