1992 Ballad Became One of the 'Most Patriotic Country Songs' Of All Time, But Didn't Even Crack the Top 10
He might be best known for his "Achy Breaky Heart," but Billy Ray Cyrus is behind one country tracks that many consider to be among the genre's most patriotic songs ever.
"Some Gave All" was released as the title track for Cyrus' 1992 debut album, and it contains a reverent message for those who have served, fought and "gave all" in the name of their country.

Even though the song has remained an enduring patriotic ballad in the 30 years since its release, Cyrus' "Some Gave All" wasn't necessarily a commercial chart success when it first came out - it didn't even crack the top 10 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
Instead, "Some Gave All" peaked at No. 52 in May 1993 and spent a total of twelve weeks at various spots on the chart.

"Some Gave All" Is Consistently Ranked Among the Most Patriotic Country Songs Ever
Despite never becoming a Top 50 country hit, "Some Gave All" has gone down in history as one of the most patriotic country songs of all time, making it the perfect song for any Memorial Dayplaylist.
It's ranked at No. 2 on Wide Open Country's Most Patriotic Songs in Country Music History, as well as 93Q Country's list of the best Patriotic country playlists songs.
"Some Gave All" also earned the No. 3 spot on Woman's World's ranking of the Top 25 patriotic country tracks, and was placed at No. 7 spot on Country Thang Daily's list of the Top 15 patriotic country songs of all time.
Additionally, the country ballad from Cyrus is ranked at No. 6 on a list of the 25 Best Patriotic Country Songs from thePioneer Woman website, which was published in 2024, and it currently sits at No. 9 on the fan-voted list of the best patriotic country songs on Ranker.
