Chris Hansen Is Played by This 'Batman' Actor in New Trailer, and Fans are 'Wowed'
"Why don't you have a seat over there?" as a former Dateline NBC host once said.
Fans were certainly seated on the morning of Wednesday, May 27 when a teaser trailer dropped for Primetime, a new narrative film centered on Chris Hansen during his To Catch a Predator reign.
And who better to portray him than a red-hot actor whose momentum just won't quit these days? From The Drama to The Odyssey, Robert Pattinson will then be seen next in the newly teased A24 drama-thriller set to hit theaters this fall, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Check out the eerie and uniquely spellbinding YouTube spot below, which only offers glimpses of the reliably superb Pattinson, 40, as the famed TV presenter - who was recently spotlighted in a riveting documentary called Predators, by the way.
Fans have already flooded the YouTube upload's comments section to show their support for what's to come with Primetime. "Wow!, looks amazing," wrote one user, while another person commented, "He's nailed the tone of [Hansen's] voice and everything. This is why robert pattinson is such an amazing actor."
Primetime is directed by acclaimed documentarian Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire) in his narrative feature debut - which is also Pattinson's first full feature-producing credit, THR also noted on Wednesday.
The storyline is set in 2006, when most of the To Catch a Predator episodes aired. As certain generations will recall, the show followed Hansen, 66, and his crew working with law enforcement and hiring decoys to trap and arrest alleged pedophiles.
In November of 2006, Kaufman County assistant district attorney Bill Conradt had killed himself in his Texas residence as law enforcement and an NBC camera crew descended on his home as part of a To Catch a Predator probe, per Variety. The operation was met with widespread backlash from locals, as chronicled in the above-mentioned doc Predators. One can't help but speculate if this real-life event could be a centerpiece in the upcoming film Primetime.
