'Book of Mormon' original cast to perform at Tony Awards

May 27 (UPI) -- The original stars of The Book of Mormon will perform at the Tony Awards in June.

Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Rory O'Malley, Nikki M. James and other cast members will take the stage to celebrate the Broadway musical's 15th anniversary.

Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, who wrote the music, lyrics and book, will introduce the performance.

The 79th annual Tonys will take place June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York and air at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The show will also stream on Paramount+.

Singer Pink will host the awards show, with cast members from The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titanique, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime and Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show previously announced to perform.

The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! lead this year's nominees with 12 nominations each, including Best New Musical.
