Supergroup With '90s Heavy Metal Legends Announce Exciting Tour Update
The '90s heavy metal supergroup Down has announced a new North American headlining run for Summer 2026, bringing their Strap It Down tour to major cities across the United States and Canada with support from Helmet and Spirit In The Room.
The band shared the update through Instagram, confirming a packed schedule that also includes festival appearances and a major support slot for Slayer.
The tour begins on Aug. 15, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia at The Eastern and runs for two weeks of headlining shows before wrapping on Sept. 4 in Shakopee, Minnesota at Mystic Lake Amphitheater. That final stop is special, as Down will appear as direct support for Slayer alongside Suicidal Tendencies and Hatebreed.
The tour mixes headlining shows with major festival appearances, keeping the band active across North America throughout late 2026.
Down's schedule includes stops in cities such as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, and Cincinnati. The run also features key venues like House Of Blues in Cleveland, Stage AE in Pittsburgh, HISTORY in Toronto and Ramova Theatre in Chicago.
Alongside the headlining shows, the band will appear at major rock festivals. These include Zakk Wylde's Berzerkus Festival in Scranton and Wantagh, Pennsylvania, where they will share the lineup with Lamb Of God, Black Label Society and other heavy acts.
Down will also appear at Aftershock in Sacramento on Oct. 3, Sick New World Texas in Fort Worth on Oct. 24, and Decibel Metal And Beer Fest in Denver on Dec. 5.
Tickets for the Strap It Down tour will go on sale in stages. Artist presales begin Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. ET using the password DOWN2026. Additional presales through Knotfest.com and Blabbermouth start Thursday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
General ticket sales open Friday at 10:00 a.m. local time for each city.
Down will also offer limited VIP ticketless packages. These include a soundcheck experience, meet and greet, photo opportunity, signed poster and exclusive merchandise. Fans can access VIP details through the band's official tour page.
The tour supports the band's continued activity in 2026, following ongoing studio work and recent releases tied to their catalog.
Down is considered a supergroup made up of well-known names from the heavy metal scene, including Phil Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower, Kirk Windstein and Pat Bruders.
Formed in New Orleans in 1991, the group has released multiple studio albums and EPs, with a sound rooted in sludge metal and heavy rock.
