Shark Week Goes KPOP When It Returns in July 2026 with Ken Jeong and REI AMI
If it's summer, it's Shark Week on Discovery Channel and 2026 is no different as today it announced that its annual weeklong fin-tastic look at the sea predator will kick-off on Sunday, July 26 and run through Saturday, August 1.
As usual, the weeklong tribute to the denizens of the deep will feature brand-new documentaries, high-action conservation specials, and returning favorites.
New for this season is the special K-Pop Shark Heroes, featuring actor and comedian Ken Jeong and GRAMMY®-nominated artist REI AMI.
After a recent series of shark encounters off the Korean Peninsula, Jeong is determined to reshape the perception of sharks across East Asia and around the globe. Joined by lifetime shark lover REI AMI, Jeong is on a mission to launch a bold, one-of-a-kind public awareness campaign that educates, empowers, and shifts the narrative around these oceanic creatures using the power of K-POP.
Also new to the schedule is Red Bull: Ultimate Shark Dive, featuring world-class cliff diver Molly Carlson, who steps out of a helicopter hovering above open ocean to complete the highest free fall dive ever attempted on Shark Week, plunging directly into the deepest shark cage ever deployed, surrounded by circling sharks. There are no second chances.
The full programming slate for Discovery's Shark Week will be announced in mid-June.
