Edge of Memories Brings JRPG Storytelling And Real Time Combat To A Beautiful Fantasy World
Edge of Memories is aiming to stand out through its combination of cinematic storytelling, real time combat, and an original fantasy setting. Developed by Midgar Studio, the team behind Edge of Eternity, the upcoming game expands the universe introduced in the studio's previous project while introducing a new cast of characters, a fresh narrative, and a stronger focus on action-oriented gameplay.
Edge of Memories takes place in the world of Heryon, a land still dealing with the scars left behind by years of conflict and supernatural disasters. The story follows Eline, a young Soul Whisperer who possesses the ability to confront a mysterious corruption known as the Corrosion. This growing threat transforms living creatures into dangerous monsters and slowly spreads across the world, pushing entire regions toward destruction.
One of the most notable differences between Edge of Memories and its predecessor is the combat system. While Edge of Eternity used a more traditional turn-based structure, the new game embraces fully real time action combat. Players can unleash fast attacks, chain together abilities, and react dynamically during encounters. The Steam page emphasizes fluid battles that reward timing, positioning, and skillful execution rather than menu-based decision making.
Building On The World Of Edge Of Eternity
Although Edge of Memories introduces a new story, it remains connected to the broader universe established in Edge of Eternity. Fans of the earlier game will recognize elements of Heryon's lore, but the new title appears designed to be accessible for newcomers as well. Rather than requiring extensive knowledge of previous events, the story focuses on a different crisis and a new protagonist.
The Corrosion itself serves as one of the game's most intriguing concepts. This supernatural force does more than simply create enemies. It alters the world, changes living beings, and creates a constant sense of instability. The idea of spreading corruption has appeared in many fantasy games before, but Edge of Memories seems determined to make it a central part of both the narrative and visual identity of the experience.
While a release date has not yet been finalized, Edge of Memories is already positioning itself as one of the more interesting fantasy RPGs currently in development. Between its detailed world, action-focused combat, cinematic presentation, and dark narrative themes, the game has the potential to appeal to both longtime JRPG fans and players looking for a modern fantasy adventure with a strong emphasis on story and exploration.
