PlayStation announces new 'God of War,' highlights 'Wolverine'
June 3 (UPI) -- PlayStation announced a new entry in the God of War series with a twist and highlighted the upcoming Wolverine game during its State of Play presentation.
PlayStation released the first look at God of War: Laufey at the end of its State of Play livestream Tuesday. The trailer shocked players with the return of Faye, the long deceased warrior and wife to series protagonist Kratos.
Faye, also known as Laufey, is portrayed by actress Deborah Ann Woll. Faye wakes up following the events of 2018's God of War inside the Everywhen, the resting place for gods in the afterlife.
Faye is quickly captured and imprisoned before she fights her way out with the help of a cosmic cube named Phranque and an enchanted ribbon attached to a powerful sword named Rue. Phranque is played by actor Jack Quiad while Rue is played by Perlina Lau.
Faye will embark on a new journey in the afterlife as she fights to find her way back home. The game features the intense and fast-paced combat God of War is known for with Faye using a sword to take down enemies.
God of War: Laufey has no release date.
PlayStation kicked off the show with an extended look at Wolverine, the next Marvel epic from studio Insomniac Games.
The new trailer details how Wolverine is trying to save a group of young mutants from being experimented on.
The popular Marvel hero battles the Reavers, a group of cybernetically enhanced soldiers that Wolverine can cut down with his signature claws. The game is a mature, bloody title for adults.
Wolverine is also joined by fellow X-Men Jean Grey in the clip, who helps take down groups of enemies using her psychic powers.
Wolverine is coming to PlayStation 5 on September 15.
