What 'The Marriage Plot' Is About

The series follows three recent college graduates caught in an "all-consuming love triangle" as they weigh their romantic ideals against the realities of adulthood and make life-altering choices about love and identity. The book, published in 2011, was an acclaimed novel from the Middlesex author.

The team behind the camera is just as stacked. Will Arbery, a Succession writer and Pulitzer Prize finalist for his play "Heroes of the Fourth Turning," wrote the adaptation and executive produces. Hiro Murai, the Emmy-nominated director behind Atlanta, will direct. A24 produces alongside FX Productions.

"The Marriage Plot is a perfect fit for FX," FX Entertainment president Gina Balian said, calling it "ambitious, character-driven storytelling."

What's Next for Sadie Sink

The Tony-nominated actress, 24, first broke out as Max Mayfield on Stranger Things, then earned a Critics Choice nomination opposite Brendan Fraser in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale. She is about to get even more visible: she joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and is producing the film version of the Broadway hit John Proctor Is the Villain.

For a generation that grew up watching Sadie Sink in Hawkins, The Marriage Plot is a chance to see her trade the Upside Down for a grounded, very human drama.
