Popular 2000s Rock Band Announces New Album 11 Years After First No. 1 Hit

Beloved 2000s rock band Mayday Parade has announced their new album, Sugar, set to be released on July 24, 2026.

The much-anticipated record is the third installment in the Florida rockers' trilogy album releases, which celebrated the band's 20th anniversary. Prior to the forthcoming release, the five-piece released Sweet in April 2025 and Sad in October 2025.

Sugar completes a nearly two-year creative undertaking that has seen the band write, record, and release almost 30 songs.

"When we began working on Sugar - part three of a three album release - I started to get concerned that we had overextended ourselves," explained front man Derek Sanders. "That the good ideas had run dry and needed more time to replenish,"

Alongside the album announcement, the band unveiled the first single of the new record, "Weekend Music," along with an official music video that encapsulates the nostalgia and optimism of the track.

"'Weekend Music' is one of the songs that came together and put me at ease, it has the catchiness and complexity that I was looking for," Sanders added. "It feels good to be able to create a song that we're proud of so deep into our career."

The ten-track record serves as the perfect closure to the trilogy, which has seen a coherent album design bring the sounds and themes of the three albums to life. New York-based designer, art director and producer Benjamin Lieber worked alongside the band to bring the vision to life, while Lieber's wife designed the flower arrangements that feature prominently on the covers.

Mayday Parade has enjoyed plenty of commercial successes throughout their 20-year career. In 2015, the band topped the charts when their fifth album, Black Lines, shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts. Their 2011 hit, "Oh Well, Oh Well", took home the IndieStar TV award for Best Music Video.
