Melissa Gorga Supports Daughter After Video Sparks Fan Concern
Melissa Gorga is supporting her daughter after Antonia Gorga shared a personal update that quickly sparked discussion among Bravo fans.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star's eldest child revealed on Instagram this week that she underwent a rhinoplasty. Bravo's The Daily Dish reported that Antonia first shared a June 10 video showing her nose before the procedure, then cut to a shot of her wearing bandages over her nose.
"Surprise," Antonia wrote in the caption on Instagram.
Antonia Gorga Explained Why She Got a Nose Job
Antonia shared more about the procedure in a follow-up post on June 11.
"I got a rhinoplasty," she wrote in the caption on Instagram.
The 20-year-old University of Delaware student said she had wanted to get the procedure done since she was "at least 15 years old." She also explained that there was more behind the decision than simply wanting a cosmetic change.
"I found out I had a deviated septum, which was a big reason why my nose was crooked," Antonia wrote. "My biggest goal was to make my nose straighter and more symmetrical while still keeping it natural and balanced with the rest of my features."
Antonia said she went to Dr. Sam Rizk for the procedure and emphasized that she did not want a dramatically different look.
"I never wanted a nose that looked completely different, I just wanted a redefined version that still felt like me," she wrote.
Melissa Gorga Publicly Supported Her Daughter
Melissa showed support in the comments after Antonia shared her post.
"Oh my God! My baby is being open and honest," Melissa wrote, adding a red heart emoji.
Melissa confirmed in 2016 that she had previously had a rhinoplasty, but explained at the time that she had chosen to keep that decision private.
"It's a personal thing. It's not hurting anyone. It's your own business," Melissa told The Daily Dish in 2016.
She also said at the time that being a mother affected how much she wanted to share publicly.
"I have children, and there are certain things I don't feel like I need to blurt all over the world," Melissa said.

Antonia's reveal drew attention quickly, with some fans expressing concern and others praising her for being honest about the procedure.
The U.S. Sun reported that the video sparked concern among some viewers, while others supported Antonia's decision and applauded her openness.
Antonia has been part of the RHONJ world since childhood because Melissa joined the Bravo series in Season 3. Now that she is an adult, her own social media posts are attracting attention on their own, separate from her mother's storylines.
For Bravo fans, it is also another reminder that Antonia is no longer just one of the Gorga kids seen in the background of RHONJ. She is an adult making her own decisions, and Melissa is standing behind her.
