Sublime's Jakob Nowell Says ‘Until the Sun Explodes' Marks His Last Album With the Band
Alternative rock band Sublime just released their new album, “Until the Sun Explodes,” on Friday, June 12, and it’s the group’s first official album in 30 years.
It’s also their first release with Jakob Nowell, son of late frontman Bradley Nowell. So, it’s a very special set of songs.
Speaking with Billboard, Jakob says that this is going to be his last album with the band. But, there’s one caveat.
“Unless a child of mine wants to make another one one day, this is the last one I’m gonna make,” Jakob explained.
“I think you have to know your goals, set out to achieve them, and if you do you must then create new goals,” he adds in the interview. “I love doing this and it’s truly healed me in many ways, and allowed me to grow as an entertainer and performer. But I wish to carry the flag forward in different ways now.”

Jakob also makes music outside of Sublime. He has his own Jakobs Castle project and is busy with his own record label.
Plus, Jakob is out on the road a lot. In the interview, he says that even if he doesn’t make another album with Sublime, he’s going to tour with the band’s original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh.
He also admits that he could change his mind about doing another Sublime album down the road.

“But it would be enough into the future where it would be a moot point,” Jakob explains in the interview. “I’ve done what I thought was impossible and I’m very proud with the results.”
