'Sex and the City' Star Takes Page Out of Taylor Swift's Playbook for Game 5
Cynthia Nixon? No, Cynthia Knickson!
The Sex and the City star, 60, showed her support for the New York Knicks with a hilarious play on her own name.
"Nixon 5!!!* (*Knicks in five) 🧡💙🧡" she captioned her Instagram photodump ahead of the Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Nixon, a lifelong Knicks fan, took a page out of Taylor Swift's playbook, wearing a blue tee with her punny name in orange font across the front. Swift and her friends, Este and Alana Haim, rocked the matching tees - later revealed to have been handmade by Alana - while sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden during Game 4.
Swift's shirt read "Stevie Knicks," while Alana wore a "Knickole Kidman" shirt and her sister rocked a "Knickelback" tee. The crew brought an extra "Stevie Knicks" shirt, which Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay changed into for the second half.
"I got a text from Taylor that was really the text that you want to get as an amateur screen printer," Alan told Vogue in an interview published June 11. "She said, 'I want to wear this shirt to the game, can you make it for me?' and I was like, 'I thought you would never ask, this is my dream.'"
According to the outlet, the third Haim sister, Danielle Haim, was also at the game wearing a matching "Knickolas Cage" tee.
While it's unconfirmed whether the shirts were good luck, the Knick defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the final seconds of Game 4 to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
The rivals returned to Texas for Game 5 on Saturday, June 13, with the Knicks needing the win to rewrite history.
