McDonald's to Revamp McCrispy Strips After Customer Criticism

McDonald's just announced a major change to its McCrispy Strips after a lackluster customer response.

In May 2025, the Golden Arches introduced McCrispy Strips, the first chicken strip offering since the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders were discontinued in 2020 and Chicken Selects were removed from menus in 2013 (aside from a brief return in 2015).

On June 13, food blogger Snack With Zach detailed, via Instagram, a recipe change to McDonald's current chicken strips offering. The move is part of the fast food chain's McDonald's Next initiative.

"A new version of McCrispy Strips is expected to begin replacing the current version during the week of July 6th with a crispier, crunchier breading," he shared. "McDonald's also reiterated plans to continue expanding its chicken offerings over the next few years, including an eventual push into hand-breaded chicken."

In the comments, followers reacted to the news, with one Instagram user admitting, "I'm glad McDonald's strips are changing! The new ones are kinda gross ."

Another shared, "The Chicken Selects were the best. Just bring back the same recipe 😣."

Someone else echoed, "I miss Chicken Selects so bad."

A different follower joked, "I fear I will never be skinny if you bring back Selects."

On Reddit, McDonald's fans also ejoiced over the news of the McCrispy Strips menu update. One Instagram user wrote, "Thank goodness. The current strips are horrible!"

A second suggested, "Instead of crispier, they need to be juicier. They're dry as a desert."

Yet another commented, "Thank goodness I tried the strips when they first came out and never had them again. And only occasionally will get the spicy wrap, but those strips were not good."

A different Redditor wrote, "Thank goodness, I tried them like twice and 1 snack wrap and I was done."
