Grammy-Winning '90s Singer Behind Cult Classic Theme Song Announces Collection of Never-Before-Heard Demos
Grammy Award winner Paula Cole gave fans the '90s smash hit song "I Don't Wait to Wait," which kids of the '80s and '90s will recognize as the theme song to the cult classic TV show Dawson's Creek, and now, she is treating them to an intimate, unexpected new collection.
Hitting the market on September 10, Cole's new collection, titled "Sonic Memoir: Demos 1989-1998," is a unique two-volume boxset comprising never-before-heard demos pulled from Cole's very own personal archives of cassettes and analog tapes. Among the demos are some of her greatest hits, including "I Don't Want to Wait" and "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?"
The new 63-track collection will also include a booklet of photography and stories showcasing Cole's career throughout the years, providing newfound insight and context for the music tracks.
Ahead of the September release of "Sonic Memoir: Demos 1989-1998," Cole has already dropped a demo of her 1996 song "Mississippi," which was originally included on her Grammy-nominated album from the same year, This Fire. That demo can be found on Spotify, Apple Music and other music streaming services.
This Fire has another significant connection to "Sonic Memoir: Demos 1989-1998" as well, as this brand-new collection will be dropping just ahead of that album's 30th anniversary on October 15. In celebration of that major milestone, Cole is also kicking off a nationwide tour, "This Fire: 30," in September.
This upcoming anniversary tour will see the singer-songwriter visit multiple major U.S. cities, including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and many others.
More information and tickets for the tour can be found on Paula Cole's website, where fans can also find the links to preorder "Sonic Memoir: Demos 1989-1998" and pre-save both volumes on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and others. Both links are live and available now.
