Peacock's Shock Cancellation of Hit Show Stuns Fans

Peacock has cancelled “The Copenhagen Test” despite decent reviews, strong word-of-mouth, and the support of a Marvel star.

In April 2026 the streamer quietly announced the decision to end the sci-fi show after just one season. However, with some fans only now finding out it won’t return for a second season, the move has not gone down well.

One Reddit user on r/television wrote, “Damn. streamers never give anything a chance. I enjoyed the show.”

Another wrote, “Yeah, I was really into this continuation. Lousy news. At least we have the one season.”

Another Reddit user highlighted the sad trend of streaming services cancelling shows too soon. “Laid was also cancelled after just one season and I thought it was actually pretty funny and had a lot of potential. Can we at least order 2 seasons at a time before cancelling something immediately? It's making it harder for viewers to want to even take a chance on a new series, knowing that it might end on a cliffhanger.”

Peacock didn’t cite a reason for axing “The Copenhagen Test.” There was no accompanying press release – instead, fans found out through reports, the first of which being Variety.

Middling reception and dwindling viewership are usually the culprits, but reviews were positive, with the critical and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes sitting at 71% and 79%, respectively.

Why Was ‘The Copenhagen Test’ Cancelled?

Peacock didn’t cite a reason for the show’s cancellation, but it may be due to the departure of its lead writer Jennifer Yale. She left the show to become showrunner on director Ryan Coogler’s upcoming reboot of “The X-Files.”

Will There be a Season 2 of ‘The Copenhagen Test’?

No, there will not be a “The Copenhagen Test” Season 2. Peacock quietly cancelled the series in April 2026.

Marvel star Simu Liu starred in the one-season series. According to the official synopsis, he is a “first- generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale, who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears.

“Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.”

Liu wrote on social media, “Thanks to everyone who watched the copenhagen test! sadly alexander and michelle's journey ends here.. endlessly proud of our cast & crew for pouring their heart and souls into this show. looking forward to carrying my producing experience into the next opportunity!”

‘The Copenhagen Test’ Release Date

The one and only season of “The Copenhagen Test” premiered Dec. 27, 2025.
